Frequently Asked Questions

While cost is certainly a large factor in the decision making process when hiring someone to do a job, it certainly shouldn't be your only question. A fence is an investment that you will enjoy for years to come, similar to buying a car. Would you walk into a dealership and ask for the cheapest car they have? You would probably consider cost, quality, features, and more likely than not, if you trust your salesperson. We are always available to answer any questions; below are some of our most frequent questions and answers.

Q: Do you install fence year-round?

A: Yes we do. Although, during winter months, installations may have minor delays due to ground temperature and extreme weather. Winter in our area often fluctuates, giving significant opportunity to set and build your fence. We will set concrete when ground temperatures are appropriate and can build in a variety of weather conditions.

Q: Do I have to be there during the installation?

A: You are NOT required to be present for the whole installation. We ask that you or a representative be present for the first twenty minutes or so on the first day to confirm and approve final layout. This is to ensure the best possible experience for our customers.

Q: Will my quote change after it is signed?

A: No, your quote is final once signed, unlike an estimate. Product price and availability will not change your quoted cost. However, any required or requested product or layout changes could affect the quote, but would be reviewed and approved by you prior to installation
Q: Do you have a warranty on your work / products?

A: Yes, although the use of quality materials combined with the knowledge and experience of our crew limits the need for a warranty. We do offer a two year warranty on gate adjustments and craftsmanship as well as factory warranties on materials.
Q: Do you obtain the permit?

A: If a permit is required for your project, we can obtain it for you on your behalf for a small fee. You may also obtain it on your own if you prefer. We are happy to offer our assistance and knowledge where applicable. Permits are officially the homeowner’s responsibility. Ashtabula Fence Co would not be liable for permits not obtained if homeowner forgoes our paid service.

Q: Do you provide a survey of my property?

A: Knowing your property boundaries is a critical part of any fence installation. Surveys can only be completed by a licensed surveyor. Unfortunately this is not a service we offer. We do advise a survey in cases where the fence will be close to property lines. If property pins are visible, we are happy to run strings at the direction of the homeowner. Final fence placement is the responsibility of the homeowner, Ashtabula Fence Co is not liable for removal or replacement of fence where placement was instructed by the homeowner.
